How does this work?

We use spare electrical capacity from buildings to power EV chargers at the curb. We do this by running a shallow conduit from your electrical panel to the charger, a process that takes about two days. We separately meter the charger, so any electricity used by our charger is accounted for separately and paid for by us.

What type of buildings do you work with?

We can work with all property types: single family homes, multifamily buildings, community facilities, and commercial buildings. The building must generally allow for legal curbside parking and have enough space for at least one vehicle to park.

In our siting, we also make sure there is clearance from tree pits, fire hydrants, and that the sidewalk is wide enough to allow for clear use after the charger is installed.

Please note we cannot place chargers where there are bike or bus lanes, or where the city has planned for those in the future.

In addition to our criteria, we collaborate with our city partners to develop city-specific criteria that ensures that our chargers are always good neighbors.

How does this provide passive income? How much will I get paid?

In addition to covering the cost of the electricity, we share revenue back with the building owner. The revenue share is $0.06/kWh and is based on utilization. We estimate that the building owner will make between $700 - $3,400 per year per charger.

What do I need to host a charger?

This is the process on your side:

1. Tell us you’re interested by signing up for our waitlist today.
2. We evaluate your site, to determine whether it’s feasible to host a charger. If yes, we will reach out to walk you through the details.
3. We do a quick site visit to look at your electrical panel.
4. You sign a partnership agreement with us.
5. We take care of all city permits.
6. With permits in hand, we install the charger(s) in two days.
7. After installation, we cover operations, maintenance, customer service, and driver engagement.

What about if I have a parking lot?

While curbs are our sweet spot, our chargers can also work seamlessly in a surface parking lot. We should note however that while our curbside public chargers are always free for buildings, for private lots where public access is limited, we'd be happy to discuss different financial models that can fit your needs. Is a permit required?

Yes, but don’t worry, we take care of that! We work with each city to ensure permits and permissions are in place for your building.

Do I have to pay for the charger installation or maintenance?

Nope! We cover all the costs of permitting, installation, and maintenance. As part of the onboarding process, it's electric provides information on how to handle common issues, but property partners are under no obligation to conduct any customer service, maintenance, or repair activities. Customer support for drivers is available through our app.

What are the unit specifications?

Each unit is a Level-2 single phase charger, with 240V, 40A circuit and a 7.6 kW charging capacity (with the ability to run higher).

Am I liable for accidents with the charger?

No. We are fully licensed and insured, and our chargers have been certified by TUV Rhineland (a nationally recognized laboratory) to meet the requirements of UL Standards 2231 & 2594, as well as FCC and EnergyStar certifications. Safety is a top priority.

Do I have to pay for the electricity that EV drivers use?

Nope! While technically your building’s spare electrical capacity is being used to charge EVs, there is a separate electricity meter that we install with the charger that keeps those charges separate from your main electricity bill. it's electric pays that meter bill directly, so you don’t need to worry about any added electrical costs each month.

Tell me the details on a typical installation.

Typically, work takes two days from start to finish. The duration of the interior work is determined by where the building’s electrical panel is in relation to the chargers, which determines the extent of interior electrical distribution work (we can accommodate runs up to 200’).

On the outside, the exterior sub-grade work involves a shallow saw cut or directional bore to run the conduit. Due to these factors, we generally locate the chargers as close as possible to the building's electric service point.

We cover all the costs associated with the installation, including hardware and electrical work. We also repair any cuts to the sidewalk and fill the trenches.

Is it OK if my electrical panel is outside?

We can accommodate either interior or exterior electrical panels.

How do I know if I have enough electrical capacity to power a charger?

We will schedule a site visit with you to determine whether there is enough capacity. We always confirm the capacity with the utility before proceeding with any work.

How will I know how the chargers are performing?

Property partners can access an online dashboard so there’s no question of how the chargers are performing. Data includes utilization rate, individual charging session data, aggregate charging data over time, carbon reduction impact, and charger uptime.

Can I control the hours the charger is available?

No. By agreeing to install chargers on your curb, you agree to dedicate the spaces to EV charging and to keep the location open to public access at all hours, year-round.

How long will the charger be installed? Can it be removed?

Our agreements are for five years, with an option to renew. If the charger needs to be removed, we will work with you to manage that process, with a remote disconnect and a one-day post removal.
